Summer Interns 2022

 

Ann-Claire Lin

Ann-Claire is a rising senior at Colorado College pursuing an independently designed major in Contemplative Neuroscience. Her research interests include the intersection of neuroscience, psychology, and Buddhist philosophy/meditation, embodied cognition, and mindfulness-based interventions. She hopes to attend medical school or a graduate program in affective neuroscience.

Brooke Findlay

Brooke is a rising junior at Swarthmore College, double majoring in Psychology and Economics. She is interested in positive, affective, and personality psychology, and the intersection of the human-nature connection. After graduation she hopes to pursue a PhD.

 

Chelsea Leung

Chelsea is a rising senior at University of California, Berkeley, where she is double majoring in Psychology and English. She is particularly interested in developmental psychopathology and in the consequences of social inequalities on individual mental health outcomes. She hopes to pursue graduate school in clinical psychology.

Danielle Holyoke

Danielle graduated from the University of Georgia this spring with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Her primary research interest is the intersection between psychophysiology, close relationships, and human sexuality. She hopes to attend graduate school to pursue a clinical degree and work with family and dyadic relationships. 

 

Ella Shenkar

Ella is a rising senior at Swarthmore College pursuing a double major in Psychology and Economics. Her research interests include Psycholinguistics, Clinical Psychology, and Public Health. Ella hopes to eventually earn a PhD in Psychology and continue conducting research.

Ellie Carpenter

Ellie is a rising senior at the University of San Francisco majoring in Psychology. Her research interests include learning, memory, and child development. She is planning to pursue a PhD in developmental psychology and aspires to become a researcher in the future.

 

Kana Hashimoto

Kana is a rising junior at Carleton College, where she is majoring in Computer Science and Psychology. Her interests include the neurobiological and cognitive mechanisms of decision-making and the disruption of these processes in psychiatric illnesses. She hopes to attend graduate school and pursue a career in research.

Kelly Higa

Kelly is a rising sophomore who is intending to pursue a double major in Public Health and Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. She is most interested in studying how biopsychological health determinants play a role in personality and behavioral outcomes across different identity intersections. She strives to improve community health outcomes and mitigate health disparities by using psychological approaches in the future.

 

Kelsey Sennett

Kelsey is a rising junior at the University of California, Davis where she studies Cognitive Science with an emphasis in Neuroscience. Her interests include exploring how creativity is used to regulate emotions, including engaging with music, meditation, art, and physical activity. She hopes to pursue a career in psychological research.

Leo Kalotihos

Leo is a rising junior at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY where he majors in psychology. His research interests lie within suicide risk, self-harm behaviors, eating disorders, and trauma. After his undergraduate degree, Leo is eager to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology. 

 

Lilly Hacsi

Lilly is a rising senior at Pitzer College studying Psychology and Data Science. She is especially interested in exploring the mind-body connection and the physiological correlates of mental illness, especially as it relates to stress. Lilly hopes to continue conducting research and eventually acquire a PhD in Clinical Psychology.

Maddie Dowd

Maddie is a rising sophomore at Harvard University studying Psychology and Government. Her interests include the physiological effects of stress and how symptom presentation in psychopathology is affected by culture and environment. She hopes to one day become a clinical psychologist with a Great Dane puppy.  

 

Mariya Malik

Mariya is a rising sophomore at American University, where she is majoring in Psychology and minoring in Neuroscience on the pre-med track. She hopes to pursue a future in the clinical field, and her research interests are centered around the interdisciplinary interactions between biological and cognitive functioning/disorders, as well as the impact they have specifically in regard to health disparities and how those can be reduced.

Nathaniel Black

Nathaniel is a rising junior at the University of San Francisco majoring in Psychology and minoring in Astronomy, and is from Pittsburgh, PA. His current interests are how racism and sleep deprivation are represented in the connectivity of the brain. He plans on pursuing a PhD in neuroscience.

 

Olivia Kharrazi

Olivia is a rising sophomore at Northwestern University where she is majoring in cognitive science and journalism with a minor in global health studies. She is especially interested in investigating the development of race biases and mental health disorders.

Oriana Bennett

Oriana is a rising senior at Stanford University, studying Psychology and Spanish. She is interested in how discriminatory stressors and resiliency influence individual psychophysiological responses and intergroup communication. After graduating, Oriana plans to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology, with the goal of becoming a researcher and a clinician.

 

Samantha Tellefsen

Samantha is a rising senior majoring in Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is interested in community-based research that provides resources and infrastructure to underserved communities to promote social equity. In the future, Samantha plans to pursue a career in social justice.

Shannon Li

Shannon is a rising junior at New York University majoring in Psychology and minoring in Data Science. Her research interests include the psychology of human perception, the behaviors and effects of different interpersonal relationships, and the way that inequality shapes experiences. She hopes to pursue a PhD and eventual career in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
