Summer Interns 2024

Selina Bilal

Selina is a senior at UC Berkeley majoring in Psychology and Cognitive Science, with minors in Music and Developmental Psychology. She is a research fellow for the Greater Good Science Center, a researcher for the Science of Happiness Podcast, and President of Psi Chi at Berkeley. Her research interests are driven by the want to create a positive impact. Currently, she is working towards building an awe-based intervention for Berkeley students. The "Awe Paradigm" initiative represents an exploration into the profound impact of awe on holistic wellbeing and personal growth.

Breanna Brownson

Breanna is from New York, and she is a senior in Morse College majoring in cognitive science. She plans to attend medical school in the future, and her research interests include clinical psychology, social psychology, and pediatric psychiatry. Outside of the lab, she enjoys dancing, golfing, and playing with her cat, Mauna Loa.

Carter Chase

Carter Chase is a recent graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he received a B.A. in Psychology. His primary interests lie in stress management as well as treatment solutions for anxiety and mood disorders. He is currently set to attend NOVA Southeastern as a member of their Clinical Psychology PsyD program beginning in the Fall of 2024.

Doris Chi

Doris graduated magna cum laude from Smith College in 2024 with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Applied Statistics. She grew up in Hangzhou, China, and loves traveling and fashion. Her research interests involve the impact of stigma on people's mental health, specifically people who hold multiple marginalized identities and the LGBTQ+ community. Doris will join the Yale community in 2024 fall to start her MPH in Social and Behavioral Sciences. She hopes to pursue a PhD degree in Social Psychology in the future.

Alyssa Gabbidon

Alyssa will graduate from Duke University with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Political Science in May 2025. Alyssa aspires to pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, focusing her future research on the prevention of juvenile delinquency and the improvement of inhumane prison conditions.

Pari Khawaja

Pari graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2024 with a BA in Psychology and special honors. Pari plans to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology in the future. In her free time, Pari likes to try new restaurants/cafes, cook, and play tennis!

Emma Levinbrook

Emma is a rising junior at Cornell University majoring in Psychology and minoring in Inequality Studies. She is passionate about studying adolescent and adult psychopathology, as well as social and personality psychology. Her primary research interests include depression, anxiety, and eating disorders, particularly the conceptualization of novel treatment interventions for future clinical applications. At Cornell, Emma's research focus is on derailment as it relates to disorders of depression, anxiety, mood, and stress. After completing her undergraduate studies, Emma hopes to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology.

Ben Lopez

Ben Lopez is from Albuquerque New Mexico, recently graudating from the University of New Mexico, majoring in psychology and sociology. Ben is currently in the process of applying for the Dual Track counseling masters program focusing on clinical and school counseling back at UNM. His research interests primarily include substance use disorder and how it can be analyzed through factors such as culture and background, and the application of mindfulness as a harm reduction technique.

Katie Madow

Katie is a rising senior at Connecticut College. She is studying Psychology with a concentration in Public Health and a minor in Statistics and Data Science. Her research interests include self esteem, social psychology, and the connection between mental health and physical health.

Leanna Tang

Leanna is a rising junior at Grinnell College, majoring in Psychology with a concentration in East Asian Studies. Leanna is committed to pursuing a career as a psychological counselor. Her research interests span social psychology, clinical psychology, and developmental psychology, reflecting a broad engagement with the ways psychological principles impact human development and health.

Karen Martinez

Karen is a junior at Rice University in the premed track pursuing a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Medical Humanities. She was born and raised in Cuba before settling down in Houston, where she increasingly grew interested in clinical, health, and developmental psychology. In the future, Karen plans to attend medical school and pursue psychiatry.

Nakieyah Robinson

Nakieyah is a recent graduate of Troy University where she received a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Educational Studies and is currently a research assistant for the Emotion, Health, and Psychophysiology Lab at Yale University. In the future, Nakieyah plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Psychology. Her career aspirations include school psychology, clinical psychology, and music therapy.

Madison Rosario

Madison is currently earning her bachelors degree in Psychology from Spelman College, the number one HBCU in the country. Madison plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and open her own practice. She is also interested in researching the effects of discrimination and prejudice of black women as well as interventional treatments. Madison aims to make this world a better place for black queer women and non-binary people.

Audrey Schwartz

Audrey is a rising junior at Carleton College, where she is majoring in Psychology with minors in Cognitive Science and Educational Studies. She is interested in developmental and social psychology, with a specific focus on how parent and peer interactions influence child development. In the future, she plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Psychology.

Rayanna Tucker

Rayanna obtained her B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Howard University in December 2023. Rayanna is driven to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology and is passionate about researching health and adolescent psychology, alongside advocating for criminal justice reform.

Imara Walker

Imara is currently based in Hampton, VA, and holds an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the illustrious Jackson State University. She hails from Brooklyn, New York by way of Honolulu, Hawaii. She loves aquatic life, especially her fish Midnight. In the future, Imara plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Psychology. She is interested in the multigenerational stigmatization of mental health and sexuality.

Nikki Varma

Nikki is an upcoming senior at San Jose State University. She is majoring in psychology with a minor in chemistry. In the future, Nikita plans to go into medicine. She is interested in research that pertains to psychology and physiology.
